Board-certified family physician serving the Wyoming Valley from the same address on East Bennett Street since 1985.
Dr. Stanley A. Lobitz has practiced family medicine in Kingston, Pennsylvania for more than four decades. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and cares for patients of every age — children, working adults, retirees, and, since he holds a Federal Aviation Administration Aviation Medical Examiner designation, pilots.
He earned his MD at Hahnemann University College of Medicine (now Drexel University College of Medicine) in Philadelphia in 1982, then completed his residency at Geisinger's Wyoming Valley Family Practice Residency in Wilkes-Barre. When he finished training in 1985, he came home to Kingston and opened a practice with his medical school classmate, Dr. Michael F. Lombard. They have been in practice together at 155 East Bennett Street ever since.
In a specialty where the family doctor of the last generation is a vanishing figure, Dr. Lobitz is what one still is.
National Doctors' Day 2023 · Pennsylvania Medical Society honoree — nominated by patients and colleagues.
"Drake is here almost every day. He is our Chief Patient Screener. If Drake likes you, you're in. Dr. Lobitz has been known to trust his dog's judgment — and Drake has yet to be wrong."
Drake is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever who has been coming to work at 155 East Bennett Street for years. The Pennsylvania Medical Society, when they honored Dr. Lobitz for Doctors' Day in 2023, made a point of also thanking "the hardest worker in the office, Drake."
Patients meet Drake at the door. He's the reason a lot of children — and their parents — actually look forward to their appointments.
Publicly posted patient reviews, quoted verbatim.
"I have been going to Dr. Lobitz since he first started his practice. Moved my husband, and three daughters to his office. Dr. Lobitz treats you as if you are his only patient."

"I had the pleasure to work with Dr. Stan Lobitz for many years. He was a huge help in making me become a better paramedic. He is one of the most caring, compassionate physicians I've ever met, and his knowledge extends into so many areas."

A small independent family practice — the way medicine used to be done, and still can be.
Dr. Lobitz, his daughter Karlie, Drake, and the staff who keep the practice running.
Dr. Lobitz's practice partner, Dr. Michael F. Lombard, MD, is also a Hahnemann '82 graduate and completed the same Geisinger residency alongside him. They have practiced together for four decades under the name Lombard & Lobitz. The office is independently owned — not part of a hospital system.
